THE CHRONICLES OF THE WANDERING PHANTOMS
CHAPTER ONE: THE PAST

<WyldWerewolf> The white and black she-wolf padded along slowly, worn out from her endless travel. She searched the empty land looking for the family she had lost, or someone to replace them. She trotted up to a lake, pausing a moment to take in her reflection. Icy blue eyes starred back her, yet instead of being blind, she could see just fine. She closed her eyes and began to lap up the cool water with her tongue.

<inutsukisister> She knew she had to get out. She needed to get out. She wasn't meant to be here...not after what they did. She had ran through the plan a million times in her head and once they left the lab for the night she hit her head against the side of her cage where she had chewed to weaken it. She escaped from her cage ignoring the looks of the other imprisoned cretures gazing in awe. She glanced around wondering what to do next.

<15MidNightWolf81>Midnight ran away from the horrible sight, her mother taking away, her 2 brothers shot and killed, her other brother Zane hade ran away in shock, she had no clue how she has going to live in the unknown wild all by herself

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon sat on the cool rock that was his den, the family was gone now, no one was left. He sighed, his head throwing back into a deep howl, dark and rough. He wanted to know if there were any others left... anywhere.

<15MidNightWolf81>Midnight heard the message, she howled back but it was a big mistake, for the humans now knew where she was...

wolfdemonlover1Kara waked along along a road still trying to find her pack, she saw a rocky place not far away across a valley somewhere to shelter for the night that she headed towards until a howl in the distance stopped her.

<WyldWerewolf> A golden wheat wolf growled softly to himself as he padded through the empty land. He had to find her, and soon. He had refused to stop to rest, letting himself grow thin and ragged. Just weeks ago a storm took away his family, and her, a wolf he knew he loved. His ears twitched as he caught the sound of a howl. It was too deep to be her, but he knew if he answered, he would find her sooner. He howled long and deep, praying someone would answer him.

<inutsukisister> She had broken free of her imprison as her golden/yellow fur twitched in excitement. Perking her ears, Essence caught the scent of the gently rushing air. She looked up and saw a window beyond a counter cracked open. She jumped onto the counter and broke the glass, barreling through it as the poor critters in the lab made loud noises for their longing to be free too. Essence ignored them and escaped into the swamps.

<15MidNightWolf81> As the brisk wind blew her dark grey and white fur, she caught another howl... she howled once more and headed to where she belived the other wolf was located

<wolfdemonlover1> As she halted to the sound of the deep howl of a wolf another howl sounded and it was female a hope sparked in her chest that it might be one from her pack she quickened her steps towards the other side of the valley and another male wolf sounded, she almost ran to the area as she howled her presence to the wolves.

<WyldWerewolf> Her ears twitched as she heard not one, but several howls. She sent up her own, heading towards the first of the howls. Perhaps this would be the start of a new family, a new pack. She missed the one she had lost in the storm weeks ago, and prayed that the new wolves would take her in, strange colored markings or not. She trotted quickly, eager to meet new wolves.

<inutsukisister> Essence stumbled as she heard loud sirens and alarms screech in her ears. She whimpered but held her head down as she got her legs muddy, dirt flying across her fur. It was an odd substance, something she had never encountered. She halted in her steps when she heard strange calls of other canines. She didn't know what they were and it made her nervous thinking this was a bad idea...

<15MidNightWolf81> As midnight stepped out of the forest she saw a black wolf atop a den, she halted in fright

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon's eyes caught sight of the wolf, and his tail wagged slightly, in a cautious but friendly manner as he took several steps off of the den, letting out another howl before approaching her, head high as an alpha should hold his head.

<WyldWerewolf> He trotted as fast as his tired legs could carry him. He scolded himself for not stopping to eat more often, and wondered silently if she would even recognize him in this tattered state. His steps slowed as he noticed not one, but two wolves near a den. The solid black wolf was clearly an Alpha by the way he held himself. He stepped forward slowly, tail lowered in a submissive, yet friendly manner. He wasn't going to be Omega, but he couldn't bear a single step to misinterpreted as a challenge when he was so weak.

<wolfdemonlover1> She heard the sounding of more and more wolves the closer she got to the rocks this may be some of her pack as, she finally reached the rock's and noticed a female that looked slightly familiar she was going to head to the female but a male howl sounded close and she immediately focused on a dominate looking black male.

<inutsukisister> Essence was reluctant to move. She didn't know whether she should venture forth into the wild or if she should return to the lab. She thought about Glide and her heart ached. She thought about the litter she only knew for a few weeks and never saw again. She was reminded that she could end up dead as well, she couldn't die..not yet...She picked along the mud heading towards the howls, whatever they were she would learn what they were.

<15MidNightWolf81> She kept her head low to not challenge his rank, she managed to say something "h-hello, my name is m-midnight. I am so sorry that i have entered your territory"

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon shook his head, noticing the others around, "please- all of you, enter my den. It is dangerous out here to be alone." He howled again, to be sure they were all here.

<wolfdemonlover1> The female spoke to the male while I stood there and watched Midnight was her name the wale then spoke he said we could join him in his den but also that there were others around I looked to see a few more wolves around us he howled and they seemed to relax a bit but soon after siren's rang in my ears from somewhere close what where they?

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota padded up to the den, snorting to herself. She couldn't believe how many other wolves there were! A solid black male looked to be the Alpha, his head was held high and proud. She glanced over to her right and noticed a familiar pelt coloring. "Brother, is that you?" she asked softly. When the golden wolf turned his head, she felt her heart flutter. It was him!
The golden wolf turned once he heard his name called, catching the eye of her, the one he had been searching for. He bounded over to her and licked her maw, "Oh, Kota, I thought I'd never see you again! Come on, the Alpha has invited us into the den."

<inutsukisister> Essence ran fast, her pace turning into a wild and unclean sprint. She ran across a clearing that gave way from the swamps into a dense forest. She ran, weaving through the trees as the alarms faded behind her. She glanced back and saw there was no one chasing her, but with the two-leggeds, one must never underestimate. She whirled her head back and ran into a tree falling to her side and fell unconscious.

<15MidNightWolf81> Midnight put her tail between her legs and kept her head low as she fallowed the alpha to the den "thank you for letting me stay here...what's your name?"

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon's nose picked up another female in the area, but something wasn't right, her scent wasn't moving. This worried him, and he spoke to the others in the den, "I am Jaxon, alpha of this territory. Please all of you stay here- i must go for a brief moment- but i will return. Stay within the den. Trust no wolf that knows my name- or has a snow white pelt, and long legs." He spoke sternly to them, before sprinting off to where the females scent was coming from.

<WyldWerewolf> The pair entered the den, noticing the different wolves and both were surprised to see so many. The golden male frowned as the Alpha left in such a hurry, but didn't bother to chase after him. Instead he laid down, curling up next to Dakota. As she lay down, she smiled at Midnight, "Hey, Midnight, right? I'm Dakota and this is my half-brother, Blythe."

<inutsukisister> Essence was knocked out, she was in such a haste and in such an alien area it made her anxious and didn't mean to run into the tree. She lied on the cold soil, dirtying her bright fur even more as her mane slanted in th dirt.

<15MidNightWolf81>"Yes, but how do you know how i am?" she peered over at the pair.

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon's eyes peered through the darkness, he had been raised in this territory, anything different would stick out like a sore thumb. and he saw her, passed out against a tree.. he approached cautiously, before sitting by her and nuzzling her neck with a whimper, "are you ok?"

<wolfdemonlover1> Kara watched the other wolf's enter the den and the black male leave not moment's after she was cautious but she entered the den.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota blushed, "Sorry, I overheard you tell your name to the Alpha, Jaxon, wasn't it?" She turned to Blythe for guidance. She grinned as she nudged her sibling.
Blythe nodded, "You must forgive my sister, she is rather blunt sometimes." He felt his heart sink. Did she really just think of him as her brother still? He turned to the other wolf, "And who might you be?" he asked kindly.

<inutsukisister> Essence stirred, feeling a cold sensation against her. She opened her eyes and their green color on a black figure. She jumped in alarm, her ears pricked up but the movement made her dizzy and she wobbled for a bit as she lied on the ground.

<15MidNightWolf81> "Oh i see, that's ok, well i wonder why we were are brought here?"

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon stood back only slightly, "Easy... its ok.." He nosed her lightly, "are you ok?"

<wolfdemonlover1> I entered the den and walked over to the wolf that had looked oddly familiar to me and layed near her she was laying next to a couple other wolves talking " Hello "

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota shrugged, "Maybe we're all just looking for a place to start over," she offered, though quietly wondered if they had all come from broken homes, or if any of them still had family some place. Dakota's ear caught the hello and she turned to face the newcomer, "Hello! I'm Dakota, this is my half-brother, Blythe. What is your name?"
Blythe only paid half a mind to the she-wolves conversation. He was watching the den's entrance, his amber eyes focused on everything, yet nothing at the same time.

<inutsukisister> Essence sniffed the air around the male wolf and saw that he meant no harm. She sighed and regained her steady heartbeat. Her head throbbed. "Yeah, my head just hurts a little..."

RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon was hesitant but he licked the top of her head sweetly, "are you lost? were is your pack? what is your name?"

<wolfdemonlover1> The wolf greeted me quite eagerly at which I was happy, " Hi Dakota, I'm Kara! " I said to her and gave a lopsided grin at which my tongue lolled out the side.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota chuckled. Kara was a lively soul, which made her smile. She glanced at her brother, throwing her heart into a flutter and frowned. Why was that? And why did he seem so focused on the world outside? "Bly, are you alright?" she asked, using nickname she'd given him when they were younger.
Blythe blinked as Dakota called to him. "Sorry, my mind was else where." He turned to Kara, "It's nice to meet you, Kara."

<inutsukisister> "My name..." she searched her head and remembered what her mother had given her despite that Man had called her patient #62. "My name is Essence. What is yours?" She got onto her feet she shook her fur.

<RedRainDropsDog> "Jaxon." He replied, helping her be stable on her feet, "Come with me.. it is not safe for you out here."

<inutsukisister> Essence nodded and followed.

<wolfdemonlover1> I grinned bigger as Blythe greeted me to " Nice to meet you to!! " I greeted but looked towards the entrance and back to him.

<WyldWerewolf> Blythe smiled back. He returned his gaze towards the entrance, and silently hoped he wasn't being rude by ignoring most of the conversation. Dakota frowned, giving her brother a worried look a moment longer before returning her icy gaze back to Kara. "May I ask why you're out here by yourself?" she asked, knowing that it was probably a sore topic for anyone here. It was for them, but she knew she couldn't bottle it up.

<inutsukisister> Essence followed Jaxon looking around the forest and glanced back at the swamp. She looked down at herself and realized she was a mess and felt embarrassed. "So..how'd you find me?" she asked him.

<RedRainDropsDog> "I was born here- raised here. I know every tree rock and swamp. It was easy to find you. And you smell like man..." He sighed, leading her slowly, not wanting her to get lost.

<wolfdemonlover1> Kara noticed as blythe looked to the entrance again before her train of thought was stopped by a question from Dakota, her muscles tensed a bit " Umm well..... My pack disappeared awhile back man attacked us....they killed a few of us and took their fur's....needless to say Me and another managed to kill a 'few' of them as well though! " she added as her hackles raised a bit.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota's ears flew back in shock. Man? "My goodness. That's-that's terrible! Why would they do such a thing?" she asked quietly, appalled by the thought of murdering others for their skin. Blythe's ears twitched as he caught the conversation. He growled softly, almost to himself, as he turned his attention to Kara. "Any loss for them is good enough for me," he growled.

<inutsukisister> Essence stared astounded at Jaxon. She was very naive to others outside of the lab since she Jaxon was the first "wild" animal she had met, other than the documentaries she saw on the motion televisions in security office. She couldn't help herself when she said, "You know about Man?"

<RedRainDropsDog> "Yes i know about man." He responded, "Man can be good, and man can be bad. You cannot tell good man from bad man smell...." he neared the den, "Man should never be trusted."

<wolfdemonlover1> Kara looked to Dakota " I have no idea...." she heard Bylthe growl and was getting ready to respond when outside they heard and smelled other wolves nearing.

<WyldWerewolf> Blythe's attention turned back to the entrance of the cave, and he could smell Jaxon and another female approaching. He chuckled, mostly to himself. Females seemed more than plenty here, but it mattered not. Hopefully a pack would form from this, offering a place to call home and a family to bond with.
Dakota followed her brother's gaze and her ears went back up. "Jaxon's back," she remarked causally.

<inutsukisister>Essence slowed as she smelled more like him. Her senses may have been dull but she easily felt multiple presences. She agreed with Jaxon, Man should never be trusted. "Then how do you know you should trust me?"

<RedRainDropsDog> "Because you are not man. And you are not a Fog. there for you are not danger." He helped her into the den, wagging his tail in delight to see all the wolves in the den.

<wolfdemonlover1> The black male arrived to with a golden female she looked warn and tired I rose from my spot and went to greet her I approached her cautiously as not to frighten her " Are you hungry?? " then I looked her up and down she was rather dirty " Is there a place we can take her for a bath ?" I remarked to the black male.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota and Blythe both wagged their tails as Jaxon and the newcomer entered the den, but neither moved from their spot. At the mention of being hungry, Blythe felt his stomach roar in hunger. He blushed as the sound made a slight echo through the den. "Sorry," he mumbled. Dakota chuckled at him, and licked his nose. "Someone's hungry."

<inutsukisister> Essence wasn't too hungry. She had eaten only a few hours earlier and slightly wagged her tail as she hid behind Jaxon, shy and suddenly timid. She didn't know anything about the wild and she was grateful for having pleasant wolves around her. "Sure I can eat. But...who brings us the food?"

<RedRainDropsDog> Jaxon sat at the mouth of the den, letting Essence hide behind him. "No one.... we have to find it our selves... i haven't eaten in 8 days.... alone i can only catch small meals, but i have gotten weaker. Fog has claimed the rest of my pack...." He whimpered a little.

<wolfdemonlover1>I heard someone's stomach howl behind me and turned it was Blythe's, then she asked the most strange question after the male answered her I felt bad and rubbed up to him a bit in a comforting manner " I will go with someone and hunt, who would like to accompany me the more there are the bigger the prey? "

<WyldWerewolf> The siblings whined for him, how terrible it was to lose his only family. Dakota stood, her tail wagging. "I'll go with you, Kara. I haven't hunted in a while, and I would love the thrill of bigger prey." Blythe didn't move, but lowered his head and ears. Had he been foolish to not hunt at all in the weeks he spent looking for Dakota? He knew the answer, and felt ashamed to say, "I would love to, however, I fear I am too weak to hunt."

<inutsukisister> Essence felt sad for Jaxon, she knew loss of loved ones and gave him a sympathetic glance, too shy to show any affection. It was not her way. She then looked to the other wolves and asked,"How does one hunt?"

<RedRainDropsDog> "You all may go hunt, Essence, you must stay here with me." He spoke, having a bit of a limp as he took his bed in the depth of the cave.

<wolfdemonlover1> She didn't know what a hunt was lord my mind reeled at the thought, he spoke it registered in my head and I nearly had to sit down " Wait a minute how do you not know what a hunt is?? An-and ..........she doesn't know how to hunt she has to know or she'll never survive though.. she has to learn."

<WyldWerewolf> Blythe knew when he was being dismissed. "Kara, come on, let's go. She can learn to hunt later." It was almost a whisper. He and Dakota both rose to leave and headed towards the den's entrance. Dakota bounded forward slightly, feeling a bit young again at the thought of a hunt. "What's keeping you slow pokes?" she called back.

<inutsukisister> Essence watched them go, interested in what they'll see but tended to Jaxon taking note of his limp. She obeyed and followed him into the den. "Is there something you wanted?" she asked, reading his movements just like she had spend years reading the humans around her.

<RedRainDropsDog> He lied down, "No, i have what i wanted, i have a pack again.... you just- you will learn to hunt another day."

<wolfdemonlover1> I followed Blythe reluctantly even though it was agianst her nature to follow order's so nicely but Dakota seemed happy and she didn't want to ruin the mood by making a fight " Dakota do you even know what you're after? "

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota turned to Kara with a smile, "Nope!" she replied with glee, "I'm just glad to in a family again!" She bounded off ahead of Kara and her brother, sniffing the air for something to hunt.
Blythe smiled and chuckled. "You'll have to forgive my sister. My father said the Great Spirits blessed her, but I think she's just a little messed up in the head. She almost drowned once, so I figure it has to be brain damage." He felt a little sad at mentioning his father, but he refused to let it get him down.

<inutsukisister>Essence nodded and lied down next to jaxon. "So..how'd you get a limp?"

<RedRainDropsDog> "When i was young, i fell down some rocks and damaged my leg. it doesn't hurt all of the time, just when i become weak..." He yawned.

<wolfdemonlover1> Dakota's excitement made me happy to have others to be around again, I paused in my step and stuck my nose in the air to check for scent's.... " There is a herd of mule deer headed that way. " at which she motioned.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota paused, taking in the scent of the deer. She let out a howl and took off, followed quickly by her brother and Kara. Once in range, she crouched down low to the ground, watching the deer with deep interest.
Blythe grinned, taking up her cheer and followed his sister. He copied her movements, watching the mule deer intently, trying to spot a weakling. 'Be careful,' he thought to himself, 'don't push yourself. You're tired and haven't fed well in weeks. Don't do anything stupid.'

<inutsukisister> Essence giggled lightly. "Clutz," she remarked. She gazed outside and asked, "You know I'm surprised..."

<RedRainDropsDog> "Surprised at what?" He asked resting his eyes

<wolfdemonlover1>I spotted a large buck that was the biggest of the herd but there was also a calf that had strayed a bit away I crept in between Dakota and Blythe " Dakota can you take the calf by yourself while me and Blythe go after the boss buck??" Kara asked flicking her ears to each as she spoke of them.

<WyldWerewolf> Blythe flicked his ears back and forth in a bit of worry, but nodded, "Sure, let's go!" He edged towards the buck, watching Kara for any signals she might send.
Dakota nodded, and slunk off to tackle the calf. It bayed, calling for it's mother, but the she-wolf quickly silenced it with a bite to the neck. She could feel the life blood flow in between her teeth and felt the urge to tear the calf up for the sake of killing and tearing, but brought herself out of it before the bloodlust could settle in.

<inutsukisister> "Well I'm just surprised at everyone's reaction. If you could smell Man on me I'm shocked that no one else noticed and wanted to kick me out," she laughed halfheartedly.

<RedRainDropsDog> "No... you are not man.... you do not like man... you are not danger..."

<wolfdemonlover1> I watched as Dakota silenced the calf without the herd getting rattled I turned back to Blythe and saw doubt in his eyes but he looked ready we stayed hidden in the cover until we had crept to within a few yard's of the buck at which point I flicked my ears forward and we were on the buck I had went for the neck but the buck threw me of and turned as I dug my fang's into it's hind quarter's............

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota drug the calf off to the side, guarding it as she watched her brother and new pack sister attack the bull.
Blythe watched Kara fly from the buck's neck to his flank. He growled as the buck tried to rid himself of his new appendage. 'It's now or never,' he thought as he ran for the neck, sinking his teeth deep into the buck. He could feel the bruises welling up on his stomach as he was flung around.

<inutsukisister> Essence soon got bored lying in the den. She was out in the wilderness, with the forest around her. She wanted to see all of it even though the thought of not knowing anything about the wild frightened her she wondered if her senses would be up to the test. Rising to her feet she stood and left the den making sure Jaxon was okay. She sniffed the ground, searching for anything to give her a hint where the other wolves had disappeared to.

<wolfdemonlover1> I saw Blythe hook onto the buck's neck and the buck started to paw at his stomach so I somehow gripped onto it good enough and pulled myself onto it's back and bite into it's neck feeling the crunch of the spine between my teeth..

<WyldWerewolf> Blythe quickly dropped to the ground. He blinked rapidly, trying to regain his vision. Dakota trotted up and dropped the calf at his feet. "Watch this," she ordered as she sped off to help finish the buck. She grabbed where Blythe had let go and helped bring the huge animal down. Once it fell to the ground, Dakota released the animal, and glanced at her brother. Blythe looked down, ashamed of his failure.

<inutsukisister> Essence searched but her nose was just too dull. She had been in a cage her entire life so her senses have dimmed and would've brought shame to her ancestors. She then caught a strong whiff from Blythe's trail and followed it though it was difficult for her but eventually she found them taking down a buck.

<wolfdemonlover1> As Blythe fell of the buck Dakota latched onto the front of the neck when the buck was dead I let out a victory howl.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota sat on her haunches and echoed Kara's howl. Blythe howled more softly, still embarrassed that he tried to do something he clearly was not ready to handle. He smiled bashfully as the newcomer walked up to them. "Hey there. Guess you found us. What's your name again?"

<inutsukisister> Essence was confused by that strange sound they emitted from their throats. "It's Essence," she told them and stared at Blythe wondering why his scent was stronger than the other two. "What was that you were just doing?"

<wolfdemonlover1> "What do you mean we killed it that was a hunt?" Kara said as she tilted her head.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota shook her head, "I think she was talking about us howling," she corrected gently. She turned to Essence, "It's a way of communication for us wolves. I'm sure you heard us when we were all meeting." Blythe stood and smiled, wagging his tail. "Haven't you ever howled before?"

<inutsukisister> Essence listened intently and realized how much she had stood out from them. Did she really belong out here? Maybe she should just go back..."No, never. Not where I come from no one is allowed to make any sound."

<wolfdemonlover1>Kara was agian finding her mind reeling in shock " Well we must teach you!! " she said as she playfully bounded up to Essence.

<WyldWerewolf> Dakota wagged her tail enthusiastically. "Why don't you try it?" she asked excitedly. Blythe nodded his encouragement, "You can do it!"

<inutsukisister> "How do you...do it...?" she asked, tilting her head in question as Kara bounded up to her. She took a couple steps back, uncertain...
